Diagnostic Radiology Department

Since its inception, Al-Ahly Medical has been keen to develop radiology services, and the department provides a wide range of diagnostic services. In order to help accurate diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment, all medical staff and specialists seek to ensure that patients’ needs are met without delay.

The Radiology Department consists of 4 units:

  • MRI unit.
  • CT scan.
  • X-ray + mammogram unit.
  • Ultrasound Unit (TV Radiology)

CT scan :

  • We have the latest CT scanner from the German company Siemens (SIEMENS).
  • It is an x-ray that is used by a special computer to photograph the organs of the body in the form of clips more accurately than regular x-rays, as it can make three-dimensional imaging all over the body.

CT scan helps diagnose many conditions, including:

  • Stroke and cerebral
  • hemorrhage.
  • Sinus diseases.
  • Fractures and bone diseases + vertebrae and the spine in general.
  • Diagnosis of tumors throughout the body.
  • Cases of chest diseases, especially using the HRCT technique.
  • Cases of urinary tract diseases (CTUT) to detect tract stones and measure their density.
  • Cases of internal bleeding.
  • Middle, external and internal ear diseases and diagnosis of ear caries.
  • Diagnosing some causes of chronic and migraine headaches.
  • Imaging of blood vessels in the body.

During the imaging process, the patient is lying in a state of complete stillness on a table that moves quickly inside the CT scanner. This examination is painless and quick. During this examination, the patient may be given a dye that makes the organs of the body appear more clearly in some examinations.

MRI:

  • We have a modern advanced device with a power of 1.5 Tesla from the American company GE.
  • It is an advanced diagnostic method for examining organs and tissues inside the body, as it produces high-resolution images that help the doctor diagnose a wide range of diseases and health problems.
  • During the imaging, the patient is lying in a state of complete silence inside the MRI table, and the examination is painless. It is possible to give the patient a dye that makes the body parts appear more clearly in some examinations.

Its most important uses:

  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and spine.
  • MRI of bones, joints and muscles.
  • MRI of the breast.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the blood vessels of the brain.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of other parts of the body.
  • Diagnosis of tumors throughout the body.
  • The possibility of diagnosing diseases of the placenta in the last months of pregnancy.

X ray :
X-rays are used frequently to help doctors diagnose many diseases and are used in cases of:

  • Fractures and bone diseases in general
  • Various chest diseases
  • Sinus diseases
  • X-rays of the uterus, fallopian tubes
  • breast (mammogram)
  • Diseases of the pharynx and esophagus using barium stain
  • Dense urinary tract stones

Ultrasound:

Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound waves to diagnose the condition of organs and tissues inside the body. Specialist doctors use this technique to see:

  • Various abdominal organs, such as the liver, gallbladder, and others, in addition to the kidneys and urinary tract
  • Ultrasound on the pelvis, including the bladder with the uterus and ovaries “for women” and the prostate “for men”
  • Diseases of the thyroid gland and neck
  • Ultrasound on the testicles with the use of (DOPPLER) technology
  • Breast diseases
  • Blood vessels “arteries and veins” using the (DOPPLER) technique
  • Detection of superficial tissues in the body
  • It is also used to examine the fetus and monitor its growth inside the womb … This service is also found more accurately in the obstetrics and gynecology departments
